Forty-six years ago, Terry Fox stood on the shores of the Atlantic in St. John's, Newfoundland, and set off on one of the most extraordinary journeys in history. He was 21 years old and intended to run the entire length of Canada.

He covered 3,339 miles over 143 days, a marathon every single day , before being forced to stop when cancer spread to his lungs. He died in June 1981. He never finished his run. But the C$24.17 million he raised, and the foundation that carries his name, have grown into something extraordinary: over C$1 billion raised for cancer research worldwide.

The iconic Terry Fox Run is free and relies on optional donations, non-competitive and open to all, and the goal is to raise funds for cancer research for The Institute of Cancer Research in the name of a true Canadian hero!
