The Centre of Canadian Studies, in association with the Global Justice Academy, will mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Proclamation (1763-2013) by welcoming to Edinburgh:

National Chief Atleo is elected by the 634 First Nations governments from across Canada, and serves as a national and international advocate for the rights of Indigenous Nations and peoples.

National Chief Atleo is a Hereditary Chief from the Ahousaht First Nation, British Columbia. He was a participant in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

As Chancellor of Vancouver Island University, he is the first Indigenous Chancellor in British Columbia.
